Equipment

Method

  1. Cut each chicken breast into thin, flat pieces. If you have two chicken breasts from a one-pound package, cut each into 3-4 thin pieces. Pat the chicken breasts dry if they have a lot of moisture.
  2. Toss the spices together in a small bowl. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the chicken pieces in a larger bowl. Add the avocado oil and toss to thoroughly coat the chicken. You can let it rest briefly or proceed directly to the air fryer.
  3. Preheat your air fryer. Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket in an even layer, ensuring space for air circulation. Air fry at 415 degrees F (213 degrees C) for 10 minutes. If your chicken pieces are larger, cook for up to 13 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  4. Let the chicken rest for a moment. Slice and serve immediately. It will be crispy on the outside, flavorful, and juicy.

Notes

Salt adjustment: For 1 pound of chicken, use 3/4 teaspoon table salt. For 1.5 pounds, use 1 teaspoon table salt. If using coarse kosher salt, use 1 teaspoon for 1 pound of chicken.
Marinating: You can marinate the chicken with spices for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. Add cornstarch just before air frying for best results.
Seasoning shortcut: For 1 pound of chicken, you can substitute about 1 tablespoon of McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning blend for the paprika, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add cornstarch and brown sugar to this mix.
Dipping sauce: Mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise with 2 tablespoons gochujang sauce, 1 clove grated garlic, a splash of soy sauce, and a dash of rice vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
