Method
- Cut each chicken breast into thin, flat pieces. If you have two chicken breasts from a one-pound package, cut each into 3-4 thin pieces. Pat the chicken breasts dry if they have a lot of moisture.
- Toss the spices together in a small bowl. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the chicken pieces in a larger bowl. Add the avocado oil and toss to thoroughly coat the chicken. You can let it rest briefly or proceed directly to the air fryer.
- Preheat your air fryer. Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket in an even layer, ensuring space for air circulation. Air fry at 415 degrees F (213 degrees C) for 10 minutes. If your chicken pieces are larger, cook for up to 13 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
- Let the chicken rest for a moment. Slice and serve immediately. It will be crispy on the outside, flavorful, and juicy.
Notes
Salt adjustment: For 1 pound of chicken, use 3/4 teaspoon table salt. For 1.5 pounds, use 1 teaspoon table salt. If using coarse kosher salt, use 1 teaspoon for 1 pound of chicken.
Marinating: You can marinate the chicken with spices for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. Add cornstarch just before air frying for best results.
Seasoning shortcut: For 1 pound of chicken, you can substitute about 1 tablespoon of McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning blend for the paprika, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add cornstarch and brown sugar to this mix.
Dipping sauce: Mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise with 2 tablespoons gochujang sauce, 1 clove grated garlic, a splash of soy sauce, and a dash of rice vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
