Course: Side Dish, Thanksgiving
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1.25-0.5 pound fresh green beans washed, trimmed, and cut into large pieces
  • 1 to taste high heat oil for cooking
  • 14 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon white pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder see notes

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add enough high-heat oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
  2. Add the green beans to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to char and become tender-crisp.
  3. Add the minced garlic, kosher salt, white pepper, and chicken bouillon powder to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
  4. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and the green beans are coated with the seasonings.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Let the green beans rest for about 10 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and the beans to achieve their perfect texture.

Notes

Chicken bouillon powder can be substituted with vegetable bouillon for a vegetarian option. For extra crispy green beans, ensure the pan is hot before adding them and avoid overcrowding the skillet.
