Ingredients

  • 8 ounce spaghetti or your preferred pasta shape
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional, or to taste
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Skillet

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the pasta.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Melt the butter with the minced garlic very slowly to avoid burning the garlic. Stir in the parsley, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.
  3. Add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss until the pasta is well coated with the garlic butter sauce. Increase the heat to medium and cook for a few minutes until the pasta is heated through and has absorbed some of the sauce. Adjust seasonings if necessary.
  4. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Serve immediately.
