Ingredients

Salmon
  • 1 fillet (about 2 pounds) Salmon
  • 1 to 1-1/2 teaspoons Lemon-pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Onion salt
  • 1 small Onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 6 slices Lemon
  • 1/4 cup Butter, cubed
Dill Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Sour cream
  • 1/3 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Prepared horseradish
  • 3/4 teaspoon Dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic salt
  • 1 to taste Pepper

Equipment

  • Baking pan
  • Foil

Method

  1. Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with heavy-duty foil and grease it lightly. Place the salmon fillet skin side down on the foil.
  2. Sprinkle the salmon with lemon pepper and onion salt. Top with the sliced onion rings and lemon slices. Dot the salmon with butter cubes.
  3. Fold the foil around the salmon to create a sealed packet.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
  5. Carefully open the foil, allowing the steam to escape. Broil the salmon 4-6 inches from the heat for 3-5 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  6. While the salmon is cooking, combine all the dill sauce ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Serve the dill sauce with the salmon.

Notes

This recipe is a great base for adding your favorite vegetables to the sheet pan alongside the salmon. Consider adding asparagus, broccoli florets, or bell pepper strips during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.
