Method
- Gather all your ingredients and equipment before you start. The churro dough comes together quickly.
- Add water, salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp neutral oil to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and stir to dissolve the sugar and salt.
- Remove from heat and stir in the All Purpose Flour. Stir until the flour is fully incorporated and forms a smooth ball. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Fit a thick piping bag with a closed star piping tip (like a 2D tip). Place the churro dough into the piping bag and twist the end to secure. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Pipe 2-inch churro bites onto the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim the dough.
- Set your air fryer to 360F and preheat for 2 minutes.
- Add half of the churro bites to the air fryer basket and spray with cooking oil. Ensure there is space between the bites for air circulation.
- Fry for 10 minutes, turning them over halfway through. This ensures even cooking. Give them a shuffle and continue to fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy outside, and slightly soft inside.
- While the first batch cooks, prepare the cinnamon sugar. In a bowl, mix together the 100 grams of white sugar and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Stir well.
- Once the first batch of churro bites is ready, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar. Set aside.
- Add the remaining churro bites to the air fryer and repeat the frying process.
- Serve warm with your favorite caramel sauce.
