Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Churro Pastry
  • 150 ml Water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp White Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 60 grams All Purpose Flour
For the Cinnamon Sugar
  • 100 grams White Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Piping bag
  • Star piping tip
  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Air fryer
  • Bowl

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and equipment before you start. The churro dough comes together quickly.
  2. Add water, salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp neutral oil to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and stir to dissolve the sugar and salt.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the All Purpose Flour. Stir until the flour is fully incorporated and forms a smooth ball. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Fit a thick piping bag with a closed star piping tip (like a 2D tip). Place the churro dough into the piping bag and twist the end to secure. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  5. Pipe 2-inch churro bites onto the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim the dough.
  6. Set your air fryer to 360F and preheat for 2 minutes.
  7. Add half of the churro bites to the air fryer basket and spray with cooking oil. Ensure there is space between the bites for air circulation.
  8. Fry for 10 minutes, turning them over halfway through. This ensures even cooking. Give them a shuffle and continue to fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy outside, and slightly soft inside.
  9. While the first batch cooks, prepare the cinnamon sugar. In a bowl, mix together the 100 grams of white sugar and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Stir well.
  10. Once the first batch of churro bites is ready, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar. Set aside.
  11. Add the remaining churro bites to the air fryer and repeat the frying process.
  12. Serve warm with your favorite caramel sauce.
