Ingredients

For the Salmon Rub
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
For the Salmon
  • 1 (2-pound) salmon fillet
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Small bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, kosher salt, sweet paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Place the salmon, skin-side down, on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the salmon evenly with olive oil.
  4. Generously sprinkle the spice mixture over the top of the salmon fillet, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Roast the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fillet.
  6. Let the salmon rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and moist fish.

Notes

Serve your perfectly cooked salmon with your favorite seasonal roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete and healthy meal.
