- Remove the crusts from your bread and lightly butter one side.
- Place bread, butter side down, in a 9x13 baking dish. Cover the bottom of the pan with no big gaps, cutting pieces like a puzzle if needed.
- Grate cheese and sprinkle evenly over bread. Layer on browned sausage, followed by green chiles.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs. Add milk and seasonings; combine well. Whisk again before immediately pouring evenly over the assembled casserole.
- Cover well and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, preheat your oven to 350℉. Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes, until the center is puffed and set, and the edges are golden brown. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
